Devolution has brought services closer to the people — and Homa Bay Water and Sanitation Company (HOMAWASCO) stands as a true testament to this success. Under the devolved system, water and sanitation are county functions, and HOMAWASCO continues to play a pivotal role in ensuring that every resident of Homa Bay County enjoys access to safe, reliable, and sustainable water services.
Through close collaboration with the County Government of Homa Bay, national agencies, and development partners, HOMAWASCO has:
✅ Expanded water infrastructure to underserved rural and peri-urban areas.
✅ Improved water quality through modern treatment and monitoring systems.
✅ Enhanced efficiency and accountability through digital billing and customer care platforms.
✅ Created local employment and built community ownership in water management.
✅ Promoted climate-resilient and sustainable resource use in line with Kenya’s Vision 2030 and SDG 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation).
